CCTV Monitoring
Last but by no means of least importance, Spectrum currently operate and manage a number of local “Business Watch” schemes, by way of strategically positioned CCTV cameras monitored from our 24 hour Control Room and Monitoring Station in Leeds. The schemes involve the participation of groups of businesses in the same neighbourhood who share the costs of the monitoring of common as well as individual property, and the response to any incident on or around their premises. In view of the high level of public sensitivity regarding CCTV, we generally operate such schemes with the active participation of local police forces; not only does this allow us to position the cameras in the best possible location to protect our clients and their property (whilst ensuring the public that we are not infringing their human rights), it also ensures an extremely good working relationship with Police Officers themselves. Indeed, statistics generated by one local force indicate a reduction in crime in that specific area of some 80%! CCTV monitoring is proven to be not just an excellent deterrent to potential criminals, but also, if used properly, a superb method of apprehending, bringing to justice and securing a conviction against actual perpetrators. As an added benefit, the high success rate of CCTV monitoring appears to have caught the attention of Insurance providers, who frequently offer significant discounts to clients whose property is monitored.
